Weinbar Onkel Oskar in Mainz

One thing first - the taste was great - the quality of the food and drinks were 5 stars. We had two glasses of wine (Grauer Burgunder and Blanc de Noir) as well as a hearty delicatessen plate (consisting of Tyrolean ham, salami and two kinds of cheese with a matching jam / chutney) and a vegan aioli. It was great and you could taste the quality of the products. Now for the small points of criticism - The waiting time of 30-40 minutes was, in view of the fact that only 2 other tables were occupied (a table for 5 and a table for two) and the menu consists of 3 different delicatessen plates and 5 focaccia variations that hardly required any preparation require way too long. The delicatessen plate really only served a mini-dab of jam, which surprised us. When asked to bring a little more of it, we were told that unfortunately they didn't have any left because there were problems with the supplier. It's a shame, because the cheese was great but without the sweet component it didn't harmonize so well or it tasted too "simple". In general, a dip / spread would enhance the taste of this plate, as it is otherwise very simple. Service can be a tad more attentive (ask if the food fits or if you want to have a drink), only happened at the very end when clearing the empty plate, but was very friendly. Conclusion: we would love to come back.

The wine tasting that Alex gave us was great! In addition to conventional wines, there were also very new and unconventional wines that surprised us, but we found them very good. Thank you for the experience. We highly recommend Uncle Oskar and the wine tasting! There is still enough fantastic food!

Nice location, albeit noisy, right on Rheinstrasse. Small but fine menu with delicious tapas and focaccia. Very nice and attentive employees. Reservation currently recommended as space is limited and always very well attended.

We had our company Christmas party with our uncle. What can I say? It is something completely different. The food was fantastic, the service absolutely attentive and looked after our well-being. Basically, I find the ambience absolutely coherent. Chilled, not too bright, not too loud, pleasant music. We had a lot of fun with you! Thank you for making our financial statements so round!

We spent our company Christmas party with Uncle Oskar, wanted to do something different from a normal restaurant! The wine bar is very comfortably furnished and has a wonderful flair! The food, put together by the owner, was super delicious and the drinks were great! The staff was very friendly and always looked after us well all evening! We all had a lot of fun, it was a thoroughly successful evening! Many thanks to the whole Uncle Oskar team!

I've known Uncle Oskar in Traubenglück since the opening, when I was looking for something new and cozy. Kitchen EXCELLENT !, rather full, fresh, creative dishes! Fine, not too much ... VERY TASTY ........ and always just right with good wine! The cultural evenings, wine presentations or the backyard glow are special ... you just enjoy it, take a special atmosphere with you and ALWAYS LOVE to come back !!!

Uncle Oskar is an asset to Mainz. The wine selection is great and the prices unbeatable. The food tastes really good and the wait staff are all very nice and accommodating. If you want to treat yourself to a nice and cozy evening, you should definitely stop by. Small and fine.
